How To Become A Morning Person Once And For All

I'm really trying to work on my morning routine to help me become more of a morning person. Recently I've been so engrossed in my blogging in the evenings, I end up going to bed late which makes it so difficult to get up the next day!

I really need to work harder on this. Also need to work on not relying on caffeine as much.

My key to being an early riser is to get 8-9 hours of sleep nightly. I realized that I can't stay up late AND get up early without sabotaging myself. I'm up at 6:00am and it takes 30 minutes for me to get ready for the day. I live on horse property so I need to spend 1.5 hours in the barn every morning. I'll come in and wash up and make a good breakfast- coffee and a smoothie made with all organic items including raw eggs. I'll spend time reading my bible while I eat. Then I need to get my lunch together and clean up breakfast items before leaving at 9:05 for work. If I have any extra time I'll check emails or look at the news on my iPad. I like this routine and it may change an hour later on the weekend. I work five jobs seven days a week so both getting enough sleep and getting up early are very important for me. (I take a hot shower the night before as a sedative to help me sleep. I pretty much end my tech items about an hour before going to bed. I don't watch TV either. The only thing I do is set the alarm on my phone, turn the volume off, and place it in on the other side of my room so I have to get up to turn it off.) I will also read a book to relax for bed after showering.

This is a very helpful list! I especially agree with #5. It seemed strange to me originally but when I read 'The Miracle Morning' by Hal Elrod it made a lot of sense and it really works. Your brain really picks up right where it leaves off!

I recently started to hone my morning routine and one thing that I think is super helpful too is exercising for 10 or 20 minutes. I like to do yoga because it also quiets my mind as well as boosting my heart rate from balancing poses. When I'm done, my body feels so much more alive and energetic!

Happy I came across this article today. I have a really hard time getting up every morning, but the best tip that I have learnt so far is really prep yourself the night before - soak your oatmeal, pack your bag, make your lunch, pick your outfit, etc. Makes your mornings more easily run and also for those days where you accidentally missed your alarm, you won't freak out as much!

no. 2 really seems to help for me!!

I am never a morning person, some odd reason I am a nightowl by birth.

Maybe because I'm born in the year of the Rat and therefore nocturnal by nature?

Oh, I thought I was the only one who listened to music every morning! I thought I was just weird, I always throw my headphones in while getting ready and have a little dance whilst doing my makeup. Totes agree, it really does wonders for getting you up and helping you to feel energised and just happy.

Kindly,

Sheree

me too!

The days are getting darker and getting up in the morning seems even harder than before. But as a busy career girl, mornings are very important. You need to get up and get ready for a new and exciting day. Sounds much easier said than done? Well, here are 7 tips to help you manage to become a morning person for once and for all.

1. Don’t snooze

This might sound like the hardest thing to do, but research has shown that snoozing will make you feel even more tired. So instead of setting your alarm half an hour earlier so you can snooze three times, just set the alarm once. At first it will be horrible, but once you get used to it you’ll be much more energized.

2. Make your breakfast special

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You need energy, especially after a long night of sleep. If you make yourself a breakfast to be excited about, you’ll get up much easier. Think about fresh fruits, croissants or my personal favorite: a double chocolate muffin! A strong cup of coffee on the side and you’re ready for another productive day!

3. Start the day with your favorite music

Once you’re out of bed you have to get ready for work anyways, so why not do it with your favorite music? Don’t use it as an alarm, though, from my own experience I can tell that every song I ever used as an alarm, I can’t stand anymore. But when you get dressed you can easily put on a playlist or even the radio will do. A little morning dance never killed anyone now did it?

4. Take a nice warm shower

People say a cold shower will help you to wake up. What they forget to mention is that a cold shower will leave you cold and grumpy. That’s why starting the day with a hot shower is much better for a good mood. You might not feel wide awake right away, but at least you’ll be warm and comfortable.

5. Make a mantra and start thinking about it the night before

A morning mantra is good to help you get out of bed. But thinking about it the night before will help you to actually remind it when the alarm goes off. Go for something like: “Tomorrow I will be one step closer to where I want to be” and motivate yourself for another amazing day!

6. Read a few pages of an interesting book

There are so many great career girl books! I have quite a list of my own and reading a few pages every day helps me so much to get motivated. Especially during early mornings, wishing you could just go back to bed. You can read it during breakfast or on your way to the office – if you go by public transport -, so you don’t have to schedule in extra time.

7. Create a morning routine

A daily routine will help you to go from always late to the ultimate morning person. You can write down all the things you want to get done before leaving the house. Stuff like: getting dressed, blow drying your hair, eating breakfast, meditate etc. Once you’ve completed them all, you will leave the house satisfied and ready to rock the rest of the day! Repeat the list every day until it becomes a good habit.
